Portland State Football

Last weekend I got to go down to Portland to visit my brother and watch him play football for Portland State. I don’t mean to brag, but my brother is a pretty sweet kid. He plays football for a big university, made his own hip hop CD, has a great sense of humor and really quick wit, and best of all, has this great sense of justice that shows how much he cares about other people.

I can’t wait until I get to see a regular season game…that’s one thing I missed in not going to a big school…big school football : ) It was great to see him play…he’s a safety, just like my dad was (and just like I was when I played powderpuff!) I guess you could say it runs in the family : ) Here are some pics of my little brother doing one of the things he loves best! He’s number 38…soon to be number 20…which also runs in the family.

Jarren and Dad. Hah. My favorite part of this picture is the guys in the background.

Mom and Jarren

My (bigger) little bro and me : )

Warming up. Look at that intensity : )

Interception? I think yes.

I’m pretty sure he’s wedged in the middle of this pile forcing a fumble. Atta boy.

Tim & Asharae

Meet Tim and Asharae. Asharae was one of my roommates senior year of college, and she and her husband Tim moved to Seattle after college. They are great people, separately and as a couple. They’re one of those couples that has the amazing ability to make anyone feel comfortable, and never feel like a third wheel : ) They’re generous, free-spirited, and truly care about people. We had a beautiful day in Seattle (which has been rare this spring) so we spent the whole day taking pictures. These two are so great in front of the camera…photogenic, fun, full of energy. And, they’re both amazing photographers, so we had fun collaborating with each other. Check back soon for my photoshoot with Asharae!

Haha. I told Tim I wasn’t gonna take a picture so close, and then I accidentally did. Twice. But it still came out as a great picture : )

I love this picture. Asharae is adorable : )

Asharae’s beach shoes.

Taylor’s beach shoes. Poorly prepared.

Dear Seattle, I love you when you’re nice, sunny, and warm.

Grandma Josie

Meet my Grandma Josie. G-ma, Grammie Cracker, G-ma Josie…I wish I could go back in time and see my Grandma at my age, cuz I’m pretty sure we would be very similar. Feisty, stubborn, and full of life. I have a picture of her when she was my age, and she was beautiful. And as she was looking at the pictures and saying how wrinkly and old she looks, I told her that I bet no one would guess she is over 82 years old. And she’s still got a ton of spunk left : )

Lakehouse Retreat

Lakes are one of my favorite places on earth. I love boats, I love waterskiing, I love sitting by a lake and reading a book. My aunt just got a new lake house, and me and my mom went up a few weekends ago to have a nice relaxing girls weekend. As with all girls weekends, we ate a ton of good food, watched a chick flick, and hung out by the fireplace overlooking the lake. These pictures are from a walk we took. Mind you, it was supposed to be a 5 mile walk. After we had walked halfway around the lake, my feet were killing me. (I’ll never wear Converse shoes on a walk again…)    We later found out it was actually a 7.2 mile walk.  My foot still hurts : )

Love this log cabin.

This is not a log cabin, it is a log “castle.” Um, brilliant.

Scones, fruit, and some amazing homemade jelly for breakfast.

Peach Bellini smoothies, courtesy of Auntie Lisa : )

And of course, some jewelry making, as Auntie Lisa is quite the expert : )

Moving Day

It’s official. I’m moving to Charleston, SC! I’m excited to learn how to be a Southern girl (sans the Southern accent…it’s cute, but it’s just not me.) I’m excited for sun, beach, and a new adventure : )

That being said, I would love to get my name, Taylor Rae Photography, out there by offering discounted prices to anyone in the Charleston area for this summer. That includes weddings, engagements, families, lifestyle portraits, or anything else that specifically fits your needs.

Send me an email at taylorraephotography@gmail.com, and just let me know what kind of event you would like to have photographed, and we can talk over the discounted pricing!

That’s right, my way of welcoming me to Charleston is discounted photography for all you Charlestonians : )

Can’t wait to meet you!

Love,

Taylor

Revisiting Baños, Ecuador

The last week that I was in Ecuador, Drew, with the help of Lea, planned a surprise visit to see me. It still makes me laugh to think of how difficult I made it for Lea to keep it a surprise…but they did a great job and I was shocked when I walked upstairs and saw Drew standing there. They had the whole week planned out, which included a trip to Baños, where we finally got to see what all the hype was about. We went horse back riding through beautiful mountains, white water rafting on a tributary to the Amazon, and got to hold cuddly little monkeys! So over a month later…better late than never, right?

These little guys are my favorite. They would wrap their little hands in yours and walk around with you like a little kid. Or they would give you the end of their long tail and let you walk them around like a puppy : ) I’m pretty sure they also liked to pose when they were getting their pictures taken.

Cutest little hyperactive monkey in the world.

Some of God’s artwork.

Out of control.

I don’t know why I like old, rusty things. But I do : )

Thompson Square

I love country music. I just love it. To all of you who loathe country, I vote that you should give it a chance. I used to cringe when anyone talked about country music, and now it’s all I listen to. And lucky for me, my cousin works for a country radio station and has been able to score me some tickets to great concerts. The most recent of these was for an up and coming band called Thompson Square. If you haven’t heard their music, go buy their CD. They’re a husband and wife band, and they sounded as good live as they do on their CD. I’m telling you, this girl can sing. So while I was being enthralled by some great music, I took a few pics to share with all you country fans out there!

Ok, now go out and listen to Thompson Square, y’all!
